25th Anniversary Celebration of the

A major star of the classical music world known for her captivating stage presence and superb technique, Russian pianist Olga Kern won the gold medal at the prestigious 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, where she became the first woman to achieve this distinction in more than 30 years. She returns to Scottsdale to celebrate the 25th anniversary season of the Virginia G. Piper Concert Series. The program will include Beethoven’s Variation on a theme by Salieri; Schumann’s Carnaval; Rachmaninoff’s Three Preludes, Op. 32, No. 5 in G, No. 10 in b and No. 12 in g-sharp; Alkan’s Études Dans tous les tons majeurs, Op. 35, No. 3 in G and No. 4 in C; and Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsodies S. 244, No. 10 and No. 2 (with cadenza by Rachmaninoff).
