What: Student Matinee of The Nutcracker
When: December 13, 2012 10:30 am
Where: Symphony Hall
Why: This is Ballet Arizona's longest running education program and has served school children since 1980. This school-based program features a curriculum which meets Arizona Arts Education standards. Each year about 5,000 students are exposed to ballet, dance vocabulary and history and learn about the upcoming production. Then, they travel as a class to the theater to engage in an interactive dialog and watch one act of the ballet. This program provides four opportunities throughout the season for early exposure to the performing arts to K-12 students. The study guide is designed to be adapted to students of all grade levels and is applicable to a wide variety of school subjects. Sponsors include: Wells Fargo Foundation, Kemper & Ethel Marley Foundation, Phoenix Office of Arts & Culture, and the Steve Miller Foundation.
