A Saturday Evening Series Open to the Public Featuring Free Family-Friendly Movies

The Crown on 7th is pleased to announce the launch of Movies Under the Stars beginning Saturday, May 20th at sundown approx. 7:30 p.m. This free, inaugural night will feature the 1986 classic film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The event is open to all ages and guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to relax and enjoy the feature film from the portable air-cooled grassy lawn. The Crown on 7th (the Central Phoenix infill project located on 7th Street just south of Bethany Home Road) will host Movies Under the Stars one Saturday each month through the end of July.

Buzz Gosnell, a partner and owner of the Crown on 7th, says he is excited to kick off entertainment for the community as he’s always envisioned the development as a place for the neighborhood to call their own. “This movie series creates another opportunity for locals to take advantage of a family-friendly activity on a weekend night. It’s also a great complement to our Concert Series happening the last Wednesday of every month.”

Okra Cookhouse & Cocktails will feature southern inspired eats like pork rinds, nachos with jalapeños and cheese sauce, 2-piece fried chicken with hush puppies and a Soul burger with fries. They will also be offering cocktail specials, 25% off bottles of wine and $25 bucket of beers. A full menu will be available both inside and on the restaurant patio.

Okra’s co-owner and mixologist, Micah Olson, is looking forward to being a part of the Saturday series. “Crown on 7th is a great spot! Between unique, local restaurants, cool shops and our expansive lawn/courtyard, I’m excited to showcase all that we have to offer here.”

The Movies Under the Stars series is scheduled to feature the following films:

• May 20 – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (PG-13)
• June 17 – Happy Gilmore (PG-13)
• July 15 – Indiana Jones - Raiders of the Lost Ark (PG)
