In doing research for an upcoming story on private air travel, I came across a brand new flight company right around the corner from my house at the Scottsdale Airpark. Lucky Jets is the name, and reasonably priced, shared private jet travel is the game.

I learned more about private air travel than I expected to, in speaking with the company’s CEO Reza Karamooz, and really understood the benefit of what they are doing: setting travelers up on private jets that are not being used by their owners at the time and that happen to be traveling that way. And the more passengers who share the ride, the more savings. And, on top of it all, booking is all done through their website, instead of calling jet brokers, hangar managers, and the usual rigmarol. At this point, they are mainly specializing in weekend flights from Scottsdale to Las Vegas, but the potential for all domestic and international travel is there.
