Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills is nearing the completion of its exciting $33 million renovation. The 285 guestrooms and suites, The Ballroom, Windows Lounge, Cabana Restaurant, and pool with new luxury cabanas have already been updated. Culina, Modern Italian, the new signature restaurant, will debut in early March.

“We are very excited about the recent enhancements to the hotel,” explains General Manager Mehdi Eftekari. “The completion of the new design allows us to offer an even more impressive hotel which complements the renowned personalized service from our experienced staff.”
As the international hub for entertainment industry events, Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills is a home away from home to an impressive list of decision makers within the industry. The vision at hand was to modernize the preexisting traditional style interiors, while incorporating elements of classic Four Seasons flora and invoking the rich history of Hollywood and Beverly Hills.

The newly-renovated 4,000 square-foot Ballroom reflects a return to California chic and understated charm. The expansive arched windows are now revealed to give natural light to this elegant ballroom. A palette of creamy neutral tones amid the standing traditional architecture complemented with delicate shears, and a contemporary garden inspired carpet design, hone in to sophistication for the perfect wedding or event.
Windows Lounge has long been a gathering place for the Hollywood crowd. The updated Lounge incorporates elements of nature throughout using sumptuous hues of fresh spring greens and rich browns. With an eye on hip and moody chic, new features include a backlit photographic glass bar top that exhibits an image of succulent foliage, and a green onyx fireplace graces the centre of the Lounge and wooden wine cabinets. Adjacent to the Lounge, the patio has been expanded and includes additional seating for up to 25 persons with two additional wrought iron cabanas that provide both ambiance and privacy. This beautiful space of outdoor living is also complemented by the newly planted orange trees, bougainvillea and lush greenery.

Upstairs on the 4th floor at the Cabana Restaurant and upper pool terrace, a new awning covers the seating with discreet heaters fixed into the awning to warm up these cooler evenings in Southern California, as well as new lighting and an outdoor sound system. Cabana Restaurant also features a new menu divided into playful categories such as “Indulgence,” “Energy Booster,” “Antioxidant,” “Comfort” and “Kid’s Corner.”
The design of the guest rooms nods to the timeless glamour of 1940s Hollywood, with elegantly mirrored wall paneling and white-gold contemporized chinoiserie headboards. The palette is composed of warm tans, fair woods, and an elegant infusion of teal or coral depending on the guestroom. The tan carpet features a slightly abstracted aqua pattern of spherical flora, a modern tribute to the Four Seasons long standing tradition of incorporating the softest elements of nature. Additional subtly to the room include vibrant blue bolsters that bounce off the champagne linens and leaf patterned throw at the foot of the bed. A matching throw pillow decorates the upholstered, tan armchair with stitched in aqua details that hint of blooming foliage. Each bathroom has been updated with elegant glass closures for the shower/bath tub area, new flat screen TVs, and new contemporary fixtures and vanity.

The newly-renovated Luxury Suites feature a dramatic fully upholstered headboard wall with a contemporary floral motif as the focal point above the bed. The woods have a warm, chocolate brown finish and the color palette is a fresh mix of chocolate brown, ice blue and warm camel tones. The One Bedroom Suites incorporate a mix of fresh spring green, plums, silver-taupe tones, along with dark woods. The carpet was custom designed and inspired by the owners’ love of flowers and lush gardens.

The Presidential Suite West features Swarovski crystal sconces and chandeliers interpreted in a very modern way of leaves, branches and flora, which are suspended on cables and add a dramatic sparkle throughout the space. The carpet is hand tufted with an over-scaled, contemporary butterfly motif. The furnishings reflect modern styling of Hollywood glamour, with mirrored desks and coffee tables, cream and black lacquered items such as nightstands and cabinets, and a graceful contemporary silver leaf dining table. The color palette is romantic, soft and elegant, reflecting the soft tones of the butterflies, paralyzed creams, dusty plums, celadon greens and soft coral.

The Presidential Suite East features a more modern design with a penthouse feel, offering clean lines, contemporary furnishings, a custom-designed chef’s kitchen, oversized bedroom, spacious walk-in closet and bold artwork. The master bath is a mix of taupe, black and cream stones, a large steam shower and dramatic vanity. The color palette is a mix of crème, chocolate brown and dusty blue in the living areas, while the den and master suite feature rich smoky gray and accents of burnt caramel.

It’s no shocker to many readers that the economic climate is unsettling at best. And in an uncertain market, lavish overseas vacations are few and far between. But who’s to say a visit to our coastal California is out of the question—especially when one posh hotel offers such stellar summer savings?

In the heart of Sacramento’s very charismatic downtown is a small boutique hotel inspired by 20th century décor, and politically charged by 21st century administrators. Although politically inspired by its surrounding landscape of California’s State Capital, Sacramento Convention Center and Superior Court, no law making is done here. The Citizen (Sacramento’s only full-service boutique hotel) is all about lavish relaxation.

Built in 1926, “the hotel’s décor reflects the elegance of a historic era, with ornate features such as vaulted ceilings, lead-paned windows, ornate woodwork, hand-crafted staircase railings and Italian marble—meticulously refurbished to their original beauty.” And of its 198 rooms, few are alike, making each visit a memorable stay.

Downstairs, the hotel’s Scandal Bar offers a relaxing environment with an array of California-inspired cognacs, ports and liqueurs. In fact, it’s the go-to place for many state and local politicians after hours. Adjacent to the Scandal Bar is Grange Restaurant, the area’s premiere dinner destination. According to the hotel’s Web site, the restaurant’s two-story space combines architectural elements from the building’s rich history with exposed beams and concrete columns to create a surprising and urbane, loft like atmosphere.

As one of Cali’s most family-driven destinations, The Citizen has gone the extra step to make vacationing happen. The hotel has created the perfect family-friendly package. Here are the details…

The Real Family Values Package is a choose-your-own-political-adventure vacation, allowing families to customize activities and gain access and savings to Sacramento attractions. Rates start at $169 a night and can be customized to include the following:
• Crocker Art Museum tickets for four
• Family passes to the California State Capital Museum, California State Railroad Museum, Sutter’s Fort, etc.
• Exclusive discounted prices with Adventure Connections, which includes water rafting adventures and the Sacramento Zoo
• One night of deluxe accommodations for four in a king, queen or double room
• One night valet parking with in and out privileges
• Offer available now through December 31, 2009 and must be booked 48 hours in advance.
