So, you’ve tuned into coverage of a televised professional golf event, snuck into the garage to sneak a peek into your husband’s golf bag and even inquired at the local course regarding the costs associated with lessons. So what is holding you back?

Perhaps it is the amount of time required to get a real understanding of the game, maybe it is the financial investment of one of the costliest sports around, or the long-standing impression that golf is one of those sports you have to have grown up playing.

As someone who only took up the game a few years back, I am familiar with the mental tennis match that comes with the intention to undertake such a large, well, undertaking. However, an item that crossed my desk has prompted me to serve as a sort of voice of reason to motivate Arizona-based women to finally abolish those excuses, slip on a golf glove and hit the links. Opportunity is knocking.

The Arizona Women’s Golf Association is teaming up with several golf facilities Valley wide to offer beginning golf lessons for women. Formally called the “Ambassador Program,” the Arizona Women’s Golf Association will partner amateur women with LPGA and PGA teaching professionals in order to provide beginning women golfers with a well-rounded learning experience. The six week program, which will be held on Saturdays, costs $195 in its entirety and affords participants an hour of instruction per week, practice time, on-course instruction and play, as well as support with course etiquette from AWGA Ambassadors. Starting dates and times are listed below and there is sure to be a location near everyone.
