While essentially every golfer on the planet has “playing a round in St. Andrews” atop their bucket list, the current state of the economy has made it difficult to venture overseas in order to appease this desire. Luckily, The Tribute, a budding master-planned community just 23 miles from Dallas/Ft. Worth, is making the links experience a little more local. The Tribute sits adjacent to the shores of Lake Lewisville with two championship courses at the heart of the development, The New and Old Courses.

The Scottish-inspired “Old Course,” designed by Tripp Davis’ Oklahoma-based firm features holes from famous British Open venues (clubhouse pictured below). The New Course is PGA Tour/Ryder Cup star Justin Leonard’s first Texas-based design project with Davis, who he teamed with to design Shorefox Golf Club in Granby, Colorado. Scheduled to open in the summer of 2009, the New Course is slated to evoke the timeless essence of holes designed by masters Donald Ross, C.B. MacDonald, Alister MacKenzie, A.W. Tillinghast and other legends. The unique 36-hole golf offering will also enable golfers to sample actual holes and design treatments from extremely-private golf clubs from the far corners of the earth. Davis and Leonard’s layout exudes the classic nuances of masterpieces such as Shinnecock Hills, National Golf Links, Prairie Dunes and Crystal Downs.

Making the development even more noteworthy is the fact that New Course-fronting lots are available in The Tribute’s Balmerino Village neighborhood. Though the lots are for custom build out, suggested custom builders are available for Balmerino Village and include Plano-based Shaddock & McNaught and Dallas-based Flagstone, two category leaders offering homes built in English Cottage, French Country, English Palladian, French Provincial and English Tudor architectural styles, emphasizing the Old World-themed atmosphere of the community.

“The premium Balmerino Village lots showcase the very best attributes and amenities of The Tribute and exemplify the resort lifestyle the community offers residents, visitors and home-buyers of all ages,” says Michael C. Jackson, Principal, Wynne/Jackson.

Seven of Balmerino Village’s 28 lots are currently on or coming to the market soon. The lots in the gated Balmerino neighborhood, which is one of five villages within The Tribute, will range from $135,000 to $275,000.
