What Does a Champion Smell Like?

Ever wondered what professional athletes smell like? Well, not while their competing that’s a different topic all together, rather the aroma they give off after a post-victory shower.
In a few short months, ladies will have the opportunity to sprits themselves with the essence of an extraordinary champion, Annika Sorenstam.

The revolutionary golfer who retired from the game a few short months ago has teamed with Boston-based SA Fragrance to create her very own scent—and in keeping with her impressive career, she will be the first professional woman golfer to do so. Since Sorenstam’s retirement, she has ventured in to the realms of winemaking (she’ll be releasing her signature Syrah is a few months time) and designing headwear (a collaborative effort with Gogie Girl). The new fragrance is the latest and certainly not the last of products poised to bear her name. Aside from these new projects, Sorenstam also exhibits continued involvement with her ANNIKA Academy, the ANNIKA Foundation, the ANNIKA Collection with Cutter & Buck, ANNIKA Financial Group, numerous golf course design projects, a tournament she hosts on the Ladies European Tour, her website and blog.
SA Fragrance says the perfume is “like Annika, casually elegant and unpretentious.” Annika fans can get an exclusive sniff of the scent called ANNIKA by Annika Sorenstam at the PGA Tour’s World Golf Championship- CA Championship taking place at Doral Golf Resort and Spa this weekend. Annika will be present to share her signature fragrance on Saturday of the tournament, March 14th from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. in the club’s pro shop. However, a clubhouse or VIP ticket is necessary to enter the pro shop.
“Developing this fragrance with SA Fragrances has been an exciting new adventure,” said Annika. “I’m pleased to give golf fans a sneak peek and see their reaction.”
The company also notes that the fragrance is targeted toward “golf enthusiasts, career-minded professionals and fashion-forward women.”
The fragrance will be available in stores in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Scandinavia beginning in May 2009, however pre-ordering is currently available online at www.annikafragrance.com. The Web site lists the retail prices at $59.50 for 1.7 oz. and $79.50 for 3.4 oz.
Even if you can’t play like a pro, maybe you can at least smell like one. Hey, it’s a start.
