Scottsdale Luxury Series – Starting with Rolls-Royce

I have lived in Scottsdale for five years now, so sometime I take it for granted what a superb luxury destination this town really is. But this weekend, I had seven lovely house guests in town and was given the opportunity to show off this amazing little city. When I step back and look at all the luxury and incredible offerings, I am very proud of Scottsdale.

This week on the Editor En Route blog, I will highlight some of the activities we did on our weekend vacation, from spa to dining and more.
Today though, I would like to discuss an opportunity I had to text drive a couple of Rolls-Royce’s at Scottsdale’s Rolls-Royce dealership. I didn’t know driving a Rolls-Royce was on my list of “things to do before I die,” but now that I have done it, and can cross it off, I would recommend adding it to your list of life’s must-do’s.

So the opportunity came because Rolls-Royce is touring their entire line of 2009 vehicles, which is unique since at any Rolls-Royce dealership, you will never find all models available at once, since the demand for these vehicles is a little different than at your local Honda dealership. So the whole line of autos was available at one place, and I was able to put the pedal to the medal in both the Phantom and the Drop Coupe.
Now, I don’t know a lot about cars, but it doesn’t take much experience to know that driving a Rolls is something special. These rather large vehicles look like they mike take some effort to drive, but in reality it was one of the smoothset test drives I have ever had. I guess that’s why you pay the big bucks for these masterpieces.

I’m sure all the engine specs are impressive to most people, but my favorite things were the plush flooring in the car; the backseat bar; the starry lighting on the roof’s interior; the way the doors open and close. The list could go on, since the details on these cars are like nothing I have ever seen before.
The experience really was impressive and I’m proud to say I was able to drive a Rolls. If you ever get the chance, do not pass it up.
Tune in tomorrow for tales of the Scottsdale spas.
