There is no shortage of great San Diego dining experiences, but here are a few of my new favorite places that I got to try out this past weekend. I would thoroughly and without doubt recommend these spots to anybody who enjoys good food and terrific atmosphere.

For Breakfast: Chloe’s Cafe on Ninth Ave, in a lovely artsy district, is open for three meals a day (and afternoon tea), but breakfast and brunch seem especially nice, since the restaurant is very much a French bistro-inspired, complete with delicatefurniture and an outdoor patio with awning – just right for your morning coffee and delicious crepes or a lovely brie and herb omelet. The restaurant coins itself as “where East Village meets Paris chic,” and I could not sum up the decor any better. A handsome bar is the centerpiece of the cozy cafe dining room, and Man Ray photos on the walls muster up vibes of 1920′s Paris. This independently-owned restaurant is totally worth a stop anytime of day to sit on the bistro patio and watch the urban world go by. www.cafechloe.com. 721 Ninth Ave #1, San Diego CA 92101, 619.232.3242.

For Lunch: When in San Diego, one must eat by the ocean. The perfect place to soak in awesome views is the Ocean Terrace at George’s at The Cove in La Jolla. This modern terrace dining room is all outdoors and located way above the ocean, on La Jolla’sProspect St., with expansive views of the Pacific. Sit and enjoy fresh seafood and one of George’s Bloody Mary’s and watch seals, sea kayakers and swimmers below.  When making my menu choice, I battled between the blackened fish sandwichand the fish tacos (which seemed to be the choice of every other person). I went with the sandwich and was not disappointed. I was also very surprised with how reasonable the prices were at this very posh and popular lunch joint. Most plates cost the same amount as any other places (the fish tacos were $11) and yet you get a side order of a million dollar view, at no extra cost. I bet I will be back to George’s every time I go to San Diego from now on, and I will definitely lead all my friends there too. www.georgesatthecove.com,

For Dinner: True food lovers will make their way to Del Mar to enjoy the elegant, yet comforting cooking of Susan Sbicca of Sbicca Bistro. This lovely eatery offers unique indoor and outdoor seating on its main floor, while up top, ocean views can be captured on the terrace. The American menu offers lots of fish choices – I tried the Sea bass while my husband had the halibut. We also enjoyed crab cakes, tuna tartate and artichoke appetizers before the main course. The food, like the restaurant itself, is both casual and very high end at the same time, which is my idea of a great menu and a great place to dine. Chef Sbicca has won numerous awards, and after tasting her food, its obvious why. This is really the idea date location, or the perfect spot to bring propel you care about. I noticed a lot of families and friends enjoying the food and the view on the terrace. I would certainly like to bring some of my nearest and dearest here to show off my new discovery – which I may be a little late in discovering. Two thumbs up for Sbicca. www.sbiccabistro.com, 215 15th St Del Mar, CA 92014, 858.481.1001.
