Unlimited Golf at Half Moon Bay Golf Links

By now, many of our readers are familiar with my San Francisco Bay Area roots. And while I do now consider myself an Arizonan, I’ll always be a California girl at heart. One of my favorite aspects of living near the city by the bay was never being more than a 45-minute drive from anywhere you wanted to be. San Franciscans will recall the local travel TV show “Bay Area Backroads,” which detailed all kinds of hidden spots and activities in our little treasure trove of Nor Cal. The show also served as inspiration for all sorts of day-long drives and adventures conjured up on a whim by my dad. While living in the Bay Area, one of my family’s favorite drive-to spots was the Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay.

Although fairly local (only a 40 minutes drive from downtown San Jose), the Ritz-Carlton and its Pacific-hugging locale exude a worlds-away type of ambiance. One amenity for which the Ritz has been heralded is its golf component. Easy freeway access from many of the tri-valley cities as well as SFO Airport, make the Half Moon Bay Golf Links a fantastic place to tee up between San Fran and the Monterey Peninsula.
Recently, Half Moon Bay Golf Links, a 36-hole public golf resort set against the dramatic cliffs of the Pacific, announced an unlimited, stay-and-play golf package to last throughout 2009.
The package includes unlimited golf from 2 p.m. the day of arrival to 7 p.m. the day of departure on Half Moon Bay Golf Links’ two award-winning, 18-hole courses: The Old Course, an American parkland style layout originally designed by Arnold Palmer, and Ocean Course, an Arthur Hills linksland design nationally renown for its closing holes perched above the Pacific.
Accommodations are provided by The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay, a AAA “Five Diamond,” Conde Nast “Gold List” hotel property within an easy walk to the Half Moon Bay Golf Links clubhouse. Also included with the package: complimentary, overnight valet parking; resort fee (complimentary glass of wine at check-in, gratis WiFi, access to The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay Spa’s co-ed Roman mineral bath and steam room, group exercise classes, gym access, and more); and a commemorative gift.
Rates begin at $399 for one player or $519 for two players per night, during the week. Stays must be completed by December 30, 2009, and the offer may not be combined with any other promotions or discounts. Taxes are not included, and package dates/times are subject to availability.
Reservations are taken directly through The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay at 650.712.2228 or www.ritzcarlton.com/hmb. To learn more about Half Moon Bay Golf Links, visit www.hmbgolflinks.com.
