Tower 23 San Diego

I was lucky enough to take a trip to San Diego a couple weeks ago. November is apparently the sunniest month in San Diego, and it was. Everyday the skies were cloudless and it was a great time of year to visit.

Downtown San Diego is a great place to stay, and in past I have stayed at the Se Hotel, but this time around I wanted to be right by the water, and you can’t get closer to the Pacific than Tower 23, the modern, minimalist hotel right on the sand in Pacific Beach. This boutique hotel offers a wonderful waterfront location in the heart of a funky beach town, and its amenities are nothing but luxurious.
From the moment you check in, the good times begin. While getting set up at the front desk with the keys to your hotel room, guests are welcomed with a delicious drink. This sets the tone for a relaxing weekend away. Once all checked-in, guests take the elevator up their room, most offering a pool or ocean view.

The suites at Tower 23 are ultra comfortable. Minimal in design, the look is fresh and clean. Crisp white walls, rich wood furniture, soft white linens and a simple, yet luxurious bathrooms are what you will find here. The beds are also some of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever tried. I enjoyed two nights of solid sleep at Tower 23, thanks to these beds and the sound of waves outside my window. Very soothing.
I also have to mention how much I loved the H20 bathroom amenities. H2O is one of my favorite skincare brands, so I was super excited about the soaps and body butters provided in the bathroom. Sometimes it’s the little things that impress me.

Tower 23 doesn’t just offer the best accommodation in Pacific Beach – it also offers the best restaurant. JRDN restaurant is on the ground floor of Tower 23 and offers a terrific bar and find dining restaurant. With the ocean in site, JRDN has some really good seafood choices on the menu. I enjoyed a blue crab salad and a salmon main course, and both were delicious. The wine list here is full of great options, but I found it kind of neat that they offered half glasses (and ful glasses of course) so you could try any number of wines, or not dedicate yourself to one wine for the night.
Overall, staying at Tower 23 is a luxury experience, yet in a relaxing , low key environment, making it the perfect destination for those who enjoy the good life, but are not into stuffy, up tight venues.
