Cadillac Urban Luxury Offers Extravagance and Performance in a Small Package

Phoenix Arizona has often been compared to a miniature Los Angeles.  While debatable, this has always been true, especially of certain parts of LA, in the area of architecture and urban layout.  Cadillac’s Los Angeles based design team has introduced the Urban Luxury concept.  Designed specifically according to the needs of a driver in a large western US metropolis such as LA or Phoenix Arizona, the Urban Luxury Concept car  is a vision of the future for a large brand in a world of increasingly small cars.

The concept vehicle is 151 inches long and 68.1 wide, with a ULC housing four seats and a modicum of cargo space.  Thanks to the upright seating position afforded by the car’s 56.9-inch height and the luxurious longitudinal space provided by the 97.1-inch wheelbase, which is identical to a Mini Cooper’s, the Urban Luxury offers a surprising amount of stretching room for such a small foot print car.  The brand’s signature grille is up front, vertical LED headlight arrays surrounding it, along with an angular yet vintage style trapezoidal B-pillar.

The car seats four, with easy access to all of the seats through scissor-type doors that extend outward and then rotate forward. The interior features touch screens and projected readouts to take the place of the traditional gauges and audio and climate control systems.

Don Butler, Cadillac’s Vice President for Marketing says, “While small in size, this concept is an exploration of what Cadillac could be in the future, as the brand continues to focus on redefining industry standards for advanced vehicle design and integrated technology.”

Under the hood this features a hybrid propulsion system that includes a 1.0L three-cylinder engine that will get 56 mpg in the city and 65 mpg on the highway.

While this vehicle equals a beautiful design made of lofty ambition, it is also very practical, and those who are following the trends in the auto world should not be surprised if Cadillac starts rolling these out on the production line in the next two or three years.  Until then, Phoenix Arizona residents can look forward to seeing elements of the Urban Luxury concept showing up in upcoming production models.

Phoenix Arizona residents can view and test drive any current model Cadillac at any Phoenix Valley area Cadillac dealer.
