First Friday’s are amazing but have you made it out for Third Friday in downtown Phoenix? It is time you explored the incredible and diverse arts districts of Roosevelt Row and Grand Avenue.

Third Friday is a much more intimate night with the arts community in downtown Phoenix that has gradually grown over the years, bringing out a wonderful crowd of art lovers from across the valley. It's the perfect opportunity to speak with artists one on one, buy amazing original artwork and enjoy uncrowned galleries! November’s monthly third Friday receptions went off with out a hitch, showcasing diverse selections of work from a great group of local artists from the notable arts community.

It was wonderful to see Treeo Gallery presenting the work of local favorite Bill Dambrova. They presented his latest body of work titled “Your Thoughts Are Not Your Own”with an energetic collection of paintings, prints and collages that highlight Dambrova’s dynamic imagery that is infused with familiar references of what appear to be the human body that seem to evolve into and are organic in presentation. Brilliant use of line, color and pattern creating a stunning and powerful body of work for more on Dambrova and the gallery at http://www.treeohouse.com.

Phoenix Institute of Contemporary Art (phIca) http://phica.org presents its “on loaded series”in the newly moved hotbox galleries that are simply shipping container galleries, which brought three exciting and extremely diverse exhibitions. November featured three young and aspiring curators and artists all presenting fascinating work but the stand out exhibition was “Anonymous Self-Portraits” the solo exhibitions of Kelsey Duff who creating experimental photography exploring her personal experiences and life.

Marking his third exhibition and anticipated return of local artist, Jonathan Howard to modified arts with his latest work “Disillusioned Insight” which utilized oil, sketch, acrylic and found objects examining “human interactions and their contexts” seen through the artist’s unique lens. The closing reception will be held on First Friday December 4th 6-10pm and will be on view through December 12th and for more information visit http://modifiedarts.org.

{9} The Gallery presents the retrospective of east valley based artist Larry Willis with an incredible selection and variety of paintings created of the course of his 30 year career in “Then Was Now” more information can be found at http://www.9thegallery.com. New to the Grand Avenue Arts District is Chartreuse gallery, which hosted the closing reception for Shauna Thibault for her solo exhibition “Wanderings” that debuted the artist’s new body of work exploring Ink wash on wood works.
