MarshallWinterBreak

This past spring when Marshall was commissioned to create the gorgeous mural Radiate in the SMoCA Lounge the artist had mentioned that the space should be activated with fun games and movies perfect for entire community and fun for all ages. SMoCA has worked with the artist, artist James Marshall (a.k.a Dalek) to activate the space to include games, activities and oh did we mention pink Astro Turf creating James Marshall's Winter Break. Visitors can try their hand at putt-putt, beanbag toss, and even dominoes, while they watch iconic scenes from some of the 1980s most beloved films.

Be sure to check out SMoCA’s upcoming exhibitions including Afghan War Rugs: The Modern Art of Central Asia, which offers a beautiful collection of contemporary rugs from modern day Afghanistan  “collection of rugs updates traditional floral and geometric patterning with contemporary images of tanks, soldiers, helicopters, world maps and political portraits. These intriguing objects question assumptions about this ancient craft and region.” This exhibition opens to the public tomorrow, January 24th and it will be on view until April 19th. This special exhibition was organized and curated by Enrico Mascelloni and Annemarie Sawkins, PhD.
