It is time for the weekly Thursday night Scottsdale ArtWalk and it’s the final one of the 2014 season! Tonight promises to be a wonderful night of art, music, shopping, dining and more in Old Town Scottsdale. As always the Scottsdale ArtWalk showcases a great selection of galleries highlighting local and national artwork, artist studios, Public Art and the Scottsdale Museum Of Contemporary Art. The Scottsdale Arts District is located along Main Street and Marshall Way in Scottsdale, all opening their doors tonight with extended hours until 9:00pm, plus visitors can ride the free Scottsdale Trolley until 9pm. Check out the Scottsdale Waterfront currently featuring Scottsdale Public Art’s latest temporary art installation Jellies in the Sky, Cacti in the Water created by Shana Koenig, creating a large scale temporary installation of glowing, color-changing fiber optic sculptures on view through the winter 2015. Also stop by the Livery space for Looking For Tsosido a video installation created by local artist Steven J. Yazzie as part of his Museum of Walking creative residency with Angela Ellsworth. This is a special one-night only event tonight from 7pm until 9pm where viewers will have the opportunity to get a sneak peak at this film and meet the artist. Looking For Tsosido (2013) explores the polymorphous mythologies of self through the process of hiking a Navajo Sacred Mountain, Sis' najinni (Blanca Peak), Colorado. Also be sure to head over to the Scottsdale Contemporary Art Museum (SMOCA) where they are currently featuring the captivating “Covert Operations: Investigating the Known Unknowns”. The artists explore subjects and issues we face today such as classified military sites, surveillance, terrorist profiling, nuclear weapons, etc. Every Thursday the museum offers complementary admission as well as Friday and Saturday evenings after 5pm.
