Get ready for a great night of art when you head to Old Town Scottsdale for their weekly Thursday night ArtWalk. October marks the cultural high season for the Arts! Scottsdale offers a vast selection of galleries showcasing both local and national artwork, Art Studios, Public Art and the SMOCA to explore!

All open their doors extending they’re hours from 7:00pm until 9:00pm. The Scottsdale Arts District is located along Main Street and Marshall Way in Scottsdale, featuring artist demonstrations, wine, food samplings, live music and more. Plus this is the perfect occasion to explore the local shops, excellent bars and local restaurants Scottsdale has to offer. Visitors can ride the free Scottsdale Trolley that runs until 9 p.m every Thursday specifically for the ArtWalk.

There are several exciting upcoming events to add to your calendars, including the 40th Anniversary Celebration for Scottsdale ArtWalk on October 23rd, which will feature a Dedication Ceremony and Festivities all along Main Street the fun kicks off at 6pm going until 9pm! ArtWalk
Autumn will be held on November 13, 2014, from 7pm-9pm

Be sure to head over to the Scottsdale Contemporary Art Museum (SMOCA) where they are currently exhibiting the captivating “Covert Operations: Investigating the Known Unknowns”. Showcasing a stellar group of national and international artists and a stunning selection of 37 art works created by 13 national and international artists including Ahmed Basiony, Thomas Demand, Electronic Disturbance Theater 2.0, Hasan Elahi, Harun Farocki, David Gurman, Jenny Holzer, Trevor Paglen, Jenny Perlin, Anne-Marie Schleiner and Luis Hernandez Galvan, Taryn Simon, David Taylor, and Kerry Tribe. The artists exploring fascinating subjects of classified military sites, reconnaissance surveillance, terrorist profiling, narcotics, nuclear weapons, et al. engaging patrons to think about the issues we face today such as personal privacy and surveillance.

 

Sleuths-and-Spies-Dance-Party

With Halloween upon us head to SMOCA for the "Sleuths and Spies Dance Party" from 7-9pm cost is $10 (members $8) to get the fun started.The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art is located at 7374 East Second Street, Scottsdale 85251. General admission to the museum is $7 for adults, $5 for students, and children under 15 are free. Every Thursday the museum offers complementary admission as well as Friday and Saturday evenings after 5pm.
