Instant Spring Wardrobe Updates

It’s about this time of year when the “winter” weather looks more like the first visions of Spring that I have the itch to try out some of the newest seasonal trends. Back in the day when I had a much more flex schedule I loved to search the vintage racks for one of a kinds that I could easily and affordably add to my current wardrobe. I for one absolutely love that transition from heavy and dark to lighter and fresher looks. In my twenties before I paired down my palette to mostly black and neutrals I couldn’t wait to add a little pastel pop here or there whether it was a pretty like pink shoe or a wash of colorful shadow to liven things up. And of course this season there are so many options to choose from that I can hardly wait to get started once again. The thing to remember is that some trends looks absolutely out of place any time before Valentines Day so add your updates with a dose of caution.

Updating your nail wardrobe is the easiest way to freshen up any look. Matte Nails are all the rage but can go terribly wrong unless you follow a few little guidelines.
Always start with a base coat. From my own experience matte nails tend to chip rather quickly so be sure to apply the base then two thin coats of polish.

Transition any of your regular shades to unshiny by using a matte top coat like the one from Rescue Beauty Lounge but be sure to let the regular polish underneath dry fully. After a bit of experimentation I find that matte dark nails look best on the fingers while lighter matte shades seem to flatter the toes best.

Leather jackets still look super chic but for Spring shades of cream and beige look best. Cropped lengths are the perfect addition but be sure to skip anything too trendy like fringe or major hardware. Instead go for clean lines and a good fit.

Khaki and military styles are still going strong so invest in a simple khaki jacket that can be mixed with black jeans and colored tees.

A pastel scarf pale aqua, yellow or lavender will perk up an all black or gray outfit without looking too summery and add to that an handful of beaded bracelets in pale gemstones to complete any look.

Save pastel shoes and handbag until later in the season and resist the urge to go with head to toe Easter egg shades until the calendar actually hits the month of March.
