Last year I had the distinct pleasure of spending some time with Susan Nethero The “Bra Whisperer” as dubbed by the ever-delightful Carson Kressley. Susan and her husband David brought their beautiful and much needed boutique called Intimacy to Scottsdale over a year ago. If you haven’t heard of it…let me tell you, it’s a must on every level!
Susan has appeared on Oprah five times, was the bra fitting expert on Carson Kressley’s How to Look Good Naked, she’s also has worked with Tim Gunn on Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style…and she has fit thousands and thousands of women. She can tell you that eighty five percent of women are wearing the wrong bra size and worse yet…this little mistake often leads to bulging back fat, droopy breasts and flattened cleavage. Oh my!
In fact with barely a second glance she pegged me as needing a different size bra right away! As an experienced stylist I can tell you that wearing the right bra will have you looking longer, leaner and more sexy in to time flat…. Not to mention, that wearing the wrong bra can lead to sagging as we age… and who wants that? It’s probably one of the best things that you can do for yourself and the fitting part is free! But let me say from experience once you see the difference a good bra makes, you won’t be able to resist taking home a few new ones.
Here are a few of Susan’s telltale signs taken from Oprah.com that you might need a bra fitting
If your cups runneth over, it’s time to go up a cup size.
If your cups dimple, it’s time to go down a cup size.
If you have the dreaded back fat, you probably think your bra is too tight, but you’re wrong—your bra is too big. Wearing the bra lower on your back with a smaller band size will completely eliminate the back fat.
If your strap falls down, that means your bra band is riding up and you probably need to go down a band size.
