SAG Awards Best Dressed!

Tina Fey

Once again this weekend another awards show honoring the best and brightest acting of the year. Please someone tell me why? Why in the world do we need another awards show to honor acting performances? I suppose this one is technically a different kind of honor because it is dished out by their own kind, but hey isn’t the Academy Awards also? I mean when winners get up and thank the “Academy” they are thanking their fellow winners from years past… yes?

I barely had time to watch the Fashion Police on E post Golden Globes and boom here we go again with the SAG Awards! Can I just say, I don’t care how plasticized her face becomes Joan Rivers is still the Queen of the Red Carpet dis’ and her eye is impeccable. I would much rather hear her waxing poetically and hysterically about the wrong shoe or hemline than anyone else. I confess that I just had to watch the Red Carpet parade on Saturday to see if the fashion faux paus of the week prior were corrected.

My favorite moment on the crimson rug was when Tina Fey asked if Gulianna Depandi Rancic was going to take (and I quote so please no hate mail here folks) “ a steaming dump” on her outfit again? Miss Julianna though thrown came right back with “well it wasn’t exactly a steamer” Referring to Fey’s Zac Posen’s strapless number at the GG’s that looked pretty, but like she just stepped out of the music box and into the limo.
This time Julianna gushed that Fey looked smashing in her purple number…and I agree she did!

Along with Fey, Kate Hudson pulled off another drop dead white dress that hugged every little curve. Marion Cottilard also looked quite the stunner in her Elie Saab couture white dress and Penelope was equally as breathtaking in her L’Wren Scott black gown.

In fact the trio looked so good that when they were presenting with Nicole Kidman, the 6 foot redhead was shall I say, dwarfed for the first time ever by her petite counterparts. Kidman wore a beautiful Oscar de la Renta but somehow she just didn’t look her regal self… and lately somehow she doesn’t seem to be living up to her past Red Carpet moments of the post Cruise years fresh from Moulin Rouge and The Hours. Rumor is that after her powder seen round the world Red Carpet escapade she is avoiding the walk all together. I have to say, I do feel for her…she is still fabulous!

Other notables, Christina Appelgate looked beautiful in pastel blue Cavalli and Sandra Bullock looked chic in her Alexander McQueen black and royal blue beaded gown.

Much improved from the Globes were Diane Kruger in marigold and a more covered up Mariah this time in red. And I have to give a shout to Drew Barrymore, still a risk taker in her Monique Lhullier but she looked fabulous head to toe and I applaud her win!
