Fashion News Roundup: 7/19-7/24

It’s Friday. It’s gray and it’s humid like crazy out. As in please stay indoors as long as possible today. It’s quite gross.

So to roundout this otherwise dreary Friday, I thought I’d start a recap of a weekly dose of what’s been going on in the fashion world. Both here and around the country. So here, your fashion news for the week of July 19, 2009.

Heidi Boutique

As I mentioned in this previous post, Heidi Boutique was  having a great big moving sale. You can now find the store, formerly in North Scottsdale at Troon North, in a new location at Hayden Peak Crossing. Specificaly, her brand new digs are at Hayden Road and Thompson Peak Parkway. You’ll still find all your favorite lines there, just at a new (and much closer) locale. 480. 663.777.

Probably one of the bigger headlines of the week was the acquistion of shoe-heaven, Zappos.com by Amazon.com. Zappos was purchased for a reported $920 million. Amazon reports that it will continue to operate Endless.com, the company’s current fashion retail outlet and that Zappos employees will receive $40 million in cash and stock.

A  new skincare collection is debuting this month at Neiman Marcus, and it’s exclusive to Neiman Marcus at Scottsdale Fashion Square. It’s the Kate Somerville Skincare Collection, the work of Kate Somerville who has spent more than 18 years in the beauty and skincare industry. She is the founder and CEO of Kate Somerville Skin Health Experts, a popular medi-spa in West Hollywood and created the line alongside top dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons.

Michelle Obama’s Hair

Yes, this is a topic. Everyone’s been raving about how fabulous it looks and whether or not she pinned it back or it’s a haircut….well…it’s just pinned back. But it looks so chic and sophisticated that she should definitely consider cutting it like this.
