Chanel Resort Collection 2011

It’s that time of year when in my personal life I am prepping for Thanksgiving and Christmas and in my professional life I am prepping for Spring time photo shoots. This year we have barely broken out the sweaters and I am looking at which bathing suits and wraps will work best for a garden shoot. Go figure. Yes it’s the norm for the fashion biz but as it often does my internal clock starts to go a bit wonky come November and December. Having said that, I suppose that what calendars are for.

The fun part is that one day I am doing makeup for a Fall/Winter couture show, the next I am riffling through summer sandals and cotton swimsuits to style a fashion gig. But honestly if life was any other way I would find it a tad dull. So, over the weekend I had the pleasure of shooting at the gorgeous Biltmore Resort. While prepping for the shoot (and a few upcoming AFM shoots) the opportunity to take a peek up close at the Chanel Resort collection came my way and the parade of goods definitely didn’t disappoint!

The actual Chanel Resort runway collection was shown in St Tropez which of course was the perfect setting for the sheer floral ruffled dresses and sorbet colored suits. Along with the pretty little pink and tan jersey dresses with stripe detail and lace trim or the white breezy looks that seemed perfectly suited for the Birgitte Bardot-esque type models. The gold tweed skirt and vest with a print blouse that rings of Bohemian done the French way was one of my favorites from the array of gold pieces in the collection. And I can’t neglect to mention or those fabulous gold lace up sandals and suede over the knee boots that looked so incredible with the suede shorts and other ensembles.

As always Karl Lagerfeld manages to churn out a little something for everyone from fully covered up maxi dresses to skimpy little French bikini’s with crochet cover ups. Though I don’t see many men wearing the silky jumpsuits (at least not in the states) I can easily see the jet set crowd lounging on the decks of a luxury liner come holiday time adorned in signature double C sunglasses, layers of chains and pearls.

Luckily for us I hear that in just a few short months there will be an even bigger selection of Chanel in out own backyard at the Biltmore Fashion Park Saks Fifth Avenue store. For more info on Chanel chanel.com
