A Weather-Ready Wardrobe

I know that it is hard to believe that we are well into the fall season, I mean with 90-degree weather only a few weeks before Thanksgiving, and even more odd that my blog post is going to be about fall/winter coat trends, but the weather people have promised me that this weekend will be the beginning of outerwear weather with temperatures dropping into the 60s.

I for one have been trying to sport cardigans and blazers since August, unfortunately with little success. So the idea of crisp fall air has me excited and ready to shop for all of my outerwear necessities!

First on my list is what I like to call the collegiate blazer. That is, a very school uniform-esque fit in colors like navy and maroon and that fabulous uniform plaid pattern. Thankfully department stores like Neiman Marcus are on the same page making this an easy find…. Yet a hard decision with all of the amazing options.

Next is a rain coat, or at the very least a coat that won’t get ruined in the rain. Surely rain isn’t the biggest concern for any Arizona resident; however, this weekend the rain is what will usher in the cooler weather. It’s better to have the right option instead of wearing a hoody with your fancy work suit or cute dress.

Then there is one of my favorites the pea coat. It works as a wonderful every day coat that will keep you warm and stylish. Plus they come in amazing colors!

Lastly is the just for fun jacket. This year leather jackets are on trend. Who What Wear tells us why:
The biker jacket is the ultimate androgynous piece, a wardrobe staple that works just as well on iconic macho men (think: Marlon Brando, James Dean, Bruce Springsteen) as it does on au courant cool girls. It’s practically impossible to lose interest in this outerwear essential, especially since it’s constantly being reinterpreted and updated with new fabrics, luxe details, and interesting proportions. Need more proof? Take a look at some of our favorite styles from this season, as seen on runways and celebs alike.

I’m quite obsessed with this olive leather jacket from Acne a la this lovely girl’s style. This is actually a street style photo from Stockholm, but it is great inspiration for a way to make a masculine jacket chic and feminine.

What jacket will you be donning this season?
