Darling Summer Do’s

Yes I have a mild addiction to super skinny headbands. I confess that my flimsy thin hair benefits quite often from being swept back into a little tiny band, but I also love a good asymmetrical band too. You see there is some kind of misshapen malfunction going on with my head that prevents me from keeping headbands in place, so it took me years to find the motherload of skinny bands that stay put….but let’s face it dwelling in my favorite accessories department isn’t a bad place to be. Although I rely heavily on a good band, I personally never wear the band alone. Unless you posses long or short shaggy hair it’s rather involved to keep your mid-length hair from looking a tad too preppy in just a headband, unless of course it’s adorned with all manners of décor like feather, crystals or flowers. Recently while I was perusing celeb photos I came across some of the most darling and delightful hairstyles I had seen in a while…nothing earth shattering mind you, but each of these were done with perfection and just in time for the sticky hot summer months when we all need some hair rescue.

Jennifer Lopez wore the half down half up look the way it was meant to be. Sleek with a pretty pony swaying behind. This look is simple to do on your own, sleek back your hair parting it at ear level, then sweep upward to a high pony. Tease for a bit of fullness and smooth hair allover with a grooming cream.

Another great look done just right is the Hillary Duff poufy pony, these days a little too much pouf and you will find yourself being compared to a Jersey girl, so to keep it looking chic tease it no more than an inch high in the front and let the hair slowly taper back into the pony. Sleek back any fuzzy hair with spray or grooming cream.

And lastly I Iove the way Kathleen Robertson from 90210 made this simple pony look sweet and sexy with an asymmetrical head band. This idea will work with almost any kind of adorned band but don’t go overboard on the girlie fouf unless you are going out at night with an appropriate outfit. If you are beyond 35 stick with crystals and subtle floral bands set a tad further back on the head. Younger girls can do the band set forward and it looks smashing!
