Departing from the muted lips of fall, spring 2015 is bold and bright. See all shades of berry, coral, pink and crimson from the likes of Antonio Berardi, Burberry Prorsum and Topshop Unique, for starters.

Lesson learned: Skip the salon. Polished cuts and bobs were replaced with shaggy-edged textured cuts across the spring runways from Tom Ford’s choppy wigs to undone waves at Marchesa.

Purple Eyes

Purple was the color of choice when making up eyes at Matthew Williamson, Charlotte Tilbury and Christopher Kane. The latter of which swiped the lilac-hued NARS Multiple in Violet Atom on models’ lids and cheekbones.

Freckles

Freckles and sunspots were embraced as marks of beauty at Preen. Makeup artist Val Garland exaggerated tell-tale signs of summer sun by drawing dots on models’ dewy faces with a mix of MAC Coffee Eye pencil, Penultimate Brow Maker and Lip Pencils in Mahogany, Oak, and Stone.

Faux Sideburns

Take this as you will, but both Marni and Prada hair-sprayed loops of lose hair to the sides of models’ cheeks to create a sideburn effect for a tough and undone look. Makeup artist Paul Hanlon at Marni explained: “It’s ’50s men’s grooming, but it’s not done in a retro way … . I thought a lot about a [short film] by Bruce Weber called  The Teddy Boys of the Edwardian Drape Society—it’s all about these rockers in the pubs of London who had these really bad sideburns that were all sweaty and stuck.”
