3 Perfect Holiday Party Hairdos

Fashion I get, but it seems that some how the hair talent gene didn’t follow. So when its time to get ready for a big Holiday bash it seems that I always end up doing my hair last because, well, I didn’t know what to do with it first. Then it goes something like trying to curl it and it comes out frizzy, trying to comb out the curls—now frizzier, and then comes the meltdown and I insist that I’m staying home and that no one at the party will miss me anyway.

If you’ve every had a hair episode like this or if this has become an entire hair season for you then you will be happy to know that the fall runways showed some very easy and sleek hair dos (no curling iron involved) perfect for this year’s party season.

Sleek Side Part

Gucci Fall 2011 RTW

How to get the look:

1. Add an anti-frizz serum to wet hair, blow dry, and then flight iron
2. Use a comb to create a deep part
3. Use a boar bristle brush to create a slick bun, chignon, low pony or even leave hair down
4. Finish with all over hair spray and shine spray (even better if your hair spray has shine in it already!)

Ultra Feminine Half-Up

Nina Ricci Fall 2011 RTW

How to get the look:

1. Add an anti-frizz serum to wet hair, and blow dry with small to medium round brush
2. Section off front inch of hair from temple to temple and secure away from rest of hair
3. Divide hair evenly at the crown and secure upper half into a “pony” with elastic tie or barrette (try a jeweled one to make it more dressy). *You want to keep the small “pony” fairly low and loose for a softer look.
4. Let down the top of the hair and part in the middle and allow it to frame your face… spray with hair spray and shine.

The Ultimate Chignon

This one takes a little bit from the two above to make the ultimate party hair do.

Chanel Fall 2011 RTW

How to get the look:

1. Blow dry hair…dirty hair works too!
2. Create a deep part and section front of the hair (almost to the crown)
3. Take the rest of your hair and twist it into a low, side chignon—don’t worry about frizz or fly-aways
4. Spray all over with hair spray that will keep hair soft—not crunchy!
