Orme Ranch Camp, a co-ed summer camp emphasizing horsemanship, is situated in the central part of Arizona. Youngsters ages 7 to 16 learn basic horse care, riding, arts and crafts, riflery, archery and sports. More advanced classes are conducted on topics like veterinary care and breeding. Academic courses at the camp can be taken for school credit. (The establishment also runs a college-prep school for students in kindergarten through grade 12 throughout the year.) Here, your offspring will explore the southern half of the Colorado Plateau with trips to sites like Montezuma Castle, the San Francisco Peaks and the Petrified Forest. Camp-goers learn about nature, geography, culture, history and more. The program is open to adolescents in grades 6 to 12, and school credit can be earned. Backpacking, hiking, mountain biking and outings to events like pro baseball games are all included. The Nike Golf Camp at the TPC Scottsdale course is for skilled golfers ages 12 to 18 who are looking to take their game to the next level.
