Style Substance Sophistication

Described as Las Vegas’s only “concierge-level resort,” the 12-story Venezia Tower features 1,013 suites averaging 700 square feet—well above the luxury average of 470 square feet—complete with oversize bathrooms bedecked with Italian marble and sunken living room areas. Even further up the exclusivity chain, sections of the Venezia Tower’s top five floors are reserved for Concierge Level guests, who are pampered with amenities including private check-in, unpacking and shoe-shine services; specialty bath and pillow menus; personal assistance with travel and/or show arrangements; and complimentary continental breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening drinks and canapés.

Speaking of private check-ins, they don’t get any more exclusive than the new Canyon Suites at The Phoenician, where guests are greeted by name and taken directly to their room—no lobby check-in required. “A Canyon Suites ambassador follows up within 72 hours after the reservation is made to discover each guest’s personal preferences and begin planning a custom itinerary, including round-trip transportation to and from the property,” says Jesseca Malecki, director at the Canyon Suites. Upon arrival, each Canyon Suites guest is discreetly whisked into his or her private quarters where check-in is completed and itineraries are finalized.

So what else separates a stay at the Canyon Suites from the already posh Phoenician proper? Originally constructed in 1996 as a stand-alone all-suite building, the Canyon Suites campus was given a comprehensive $5.5 million overhaul in preparation for its new hotel-within-a-hotel status. Aside from a soaring lobby overflowing with Italian marble and Chinese maple and crushed-velvet furnishings, all 60 suites feature expansive patios and high-end amenities like two flat-panel televisions, a fax machine/scanner/printer, and a Bose stereo with iPod connectivity. However, the real attractions here are the included services like coffee and tea wake-up service delivered on sterling silver each morning, chauffeured Mercedes transportation to nearby attractions and private afternoon wine tastings hosted by The Phoenician’s in-house experts. And let’s not forget, Canyon Suites guests have exclusive access (for a fee) to the on-site Red Rock Boardroom, a marvel of modern technology built around a 24-seat hand-crafted mahogany conference table that’s literally bursting at the seams with hidden high-tech doodads like 21-inch monitors that rise right out of the tabletop.
